Happy new year, folks!
This will be a quick one to round off 2023 occurrences.
December was a quiet writing month, although I got to read at Poetry in the Park for the first time which was a lot of fun.
I had to stick around in Aberdeen for longer than planned but I got home on Christmas Eve and got to see my family. The whole Christmas period was a relatively quiet one in the end, but I did get to spend New Year with my granny. I have been back in Aberdeen since the 4th and I will go back to work on the 8th.
Lastly, here are the books I enjoyed most in 2023 of the 24 I ended up completing:
The Lamplighters - Emma Stonex
The Nickel Boys - Colson Whitehead
Piranesi - Susanna Clarke
Trespasses - Louise Kennedy
Orlam - PJ Harvey
Open Water - Caleb Azumah Nelson
The Things We Do To Our Friends - Heather Darwent
Paper Cup - Karen Campbell
The Summer Book - Tove Jansson
Orpheus Builds a Girl - Heather Parry
Yellowface - Rebecca F Kuang
Wild Geese - Soula Emmanuel
Days at the Morisaki Bookshop - Satoshi Yagisawa
The Vintage Shop of Second Chances - Libby Page
The Fair Botanists - Sara Sheridan
Finally - for those who follow me on Instagram, I will be cracking open the Happiness Jar at some point on Sunday. This is the jar where I added in little slips containing good things I did this year. It's quite full so I'm optimistic. Please feel free to keep an eye on my Insta stories so I can share them all with you.
